Herbal Wellness Consultations at Elan


Time to check back in as there's so many things happening at our office in Bowness!  This month we have two new practitioners joining us~ Melanie offering Herbal Wellness Consultations, and Angela offering Acupuncture and Acutonics services (information on Angela coming soon!).  

Here's information on Melanie and Full Bloom Herbals!  Melanie is available for 
appointments on Thursdays.  

Full Bloom Herbals will support and guide you in choosing your healing path.  These consultations are empowering, putting you in the lead and the heart of your healing. 

During our consultation process you can expect to have a detailed conversation about your concerns. Past medical history, habits of daily living, family health, stress and emotional well-being will all be explored. From this conversation and evaluation we will work together to create a plan that meets your needs. This plan will often include nutritional changes, herbal supports, meditation/reflections, and rest/relaxation strategies. Above all this is your plan, it must work for you, you get to be in the drivers seat the whole time.

$100 plus GST for an initial 75 minute consultation.
You will receive a detailed written plan after our session.

Follow up appointments are 30 minutes and the cost is $50 plus GST
Cost of herbal supports ranges from $80 - $100 per month.

The Dispensary

After our consultation and planning I will formulate herbals supports to suit your particular needs and constitution. Suggested herbals may include tea, tincture, capsule and/or topical applications. In most cases you will be able to pick up your herbs the following week at the clinic. 

 By keeping a dispensary in this fashion I am able to make the freshest herbal supports with love and intention to meet your unique needs. This also helps to keep costs as low as possible for you.

Melanie is a community herbalist, she will work with you to bring balance and vibrant health back to your life. By guiding you to connect with your own innate healing abilities together with the herbs you will find wellness again. Her understanding of how plants heal us will help you wade through the information your body is giving you, empowering you to make the best choices to bring about your own vibrant health. With training from a range of herbalists and teachers (including Wild Rose Collage of Natural Healing, Abrah Arneson at the Green Clinic and Aviva Romm, M.D.) Melanie is ready support your healing journey.

Ten days of eating Vegan are under way.  This is the food experiment I am dreading the most, but I will try my best.   Why am I wanting to try Vegan? Amount of Protein.   I am curious if I am getting too much protein with my usual carnivore diet.  I haven't convinced myself that I will be calculating my daily protein consumption, but maybe this will give my body a break if I am getting too much.  So far, I'm sticking to my grazing-3 meals and 3 snacks a day & will try to balance them all with protein, fats and carbs. Outdoor Inspiration

We went to Banff this past weekend. Absolutely one of the best things about living so close to the mountains, and also something we rarely take advantage of.  Beautiful mountains, fresh air, excellent sushi (don't we all go to Banff for sushi?), healing, mineral hot springs. Sounds lovely, yes? While I was there, I checked my email and coincidentally, had one commenting on the benefits of being outside (kids and adults) for 2-3 hours per day. Yes, 2-3 hours a day.  I don't think commuting in the car counts.   Are you outside this often? Are your kids? So many benefits of being outside: Fresh air Better sleep More exercise (unless that's lying on a beach, or in a hammock) Ability to explore our natural world-trees, bugs, animals, mud... Clay and The 12 Senses

This past weekend was the 4th Annual Waldorf Gateways Conference, with keynote speaker, Dr. Adam Blanning.  Dr Blanning is trained in family practice medicine and in anthroposophically extended medicine.  I enjoyed learning about Health and Well-Being for Children and Families, and especially enjoyed my two workshops.   The clay...wonderful for our 12 senses!  Hopefully that's making you think a little, are you familiar with our 12 senses?  The first 5 are easy... vision, smell, taste, hearing, and touch.  And then?   Imagine working with clay-first you will see the clay, and then reach out and touch it.  You may bring it up to your nose to smell, but hopefully you don't stick your tongue out to taste it.  The clay may feel cold, or start to warm up as you work it in your hands.  You probably won't hear too much from the clay, except the quiet of the room, or other voices.  If you hear voices, you may hear words being spoke...
