Family Wellness Evening

We love to see kids at Elan and from the families we see under care, know it is amazing for their overall spinal and nervous system health and to keep up with their regular bumps and falls! Once a month we have a Family Wellness Evening for both our new families and those under care. We believe it is important to have a community where you can discuss relevant health and wellness topics~please join us!  After a short presentation on “Why Chiropractic Care for Children?” with Dr. Josephene Juell, we will have the opportunity for discussion on topics from Pathways to Family Wellness magazine, or Q&A on related health and wellness topics. All ages welcome. (no childcare on site, office play area available for kids.) Next: Tuesday, June 25th at 7:00PM Complimentary!

Mindfulness in May

Welcome to May!  I would like to take a moment for a couple of celebrations that are related to May. I want to celebrate the Moms we see in the office-for all of the women we see coordinating chiropractic wellness care not just for themselves, but for their children, families, parents, or friends. Whether we are moms ourselves, or have our birth or adoptive moms to thank for bringing us into the world and raising us, our moms have enormous impact and potential for change in our lives. Thank you for all that you do! (Please visit us the days prior to Mother's Day for our gift to you!) May is also our Practice Member of The Week celebration month. We're including this past month's stories of our selected Practice Members of the Week. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoy seeing them. If you are curious how we select our Practice Members of the Week, there are a number of factors we consider, such as an amazing story to share, commitment to care, contribu...

Why are kids so full of energy???

It's Kids Month at Elan... Here's thoughts from Scott, one of our Registered Massage Therapists at Elan Family Wellness Centre. By the way, August 15th is his birthday!  Scott's thoughts : Why are kids so full of energy??? August is bitter sweet for me. As a kid it meant my birthday... August 15 th  by the way... (wink wink)... and it meant that school was just around the corner. Kind of a “Yay/Boo!” polarity for me. Now, having a little one about to enter the third grade, I don't see that tension in her at this point in her development. What I do see is a crazy energy rich kid with passions and tension from boredom and soggy clothing from squirt guns and dirt on her pants for playing outside. All the things I remember as a kid. But done with energy, an energy that makes me envious. Is it that kids just have more energy? Or is it they are able to tap into some unseen resource and I have simply lost that skill that they have naturally? To live with that inner chi...

Body Balance in Babies

Spring has arrived and the world instantly feels better to me. Along with the season's arrival, April always make me think of new beginnings with pregnancies and babies everywhere (the human and animal variety!). Our office offers many services for around the prenatal time and we especially love to see new babies getting entrained with Network care and seeing them learn strategies to release tension in their bodies-whether the tension has built up from development, during birth or in their early days. I find that many babies who have had care in-utero and in their early weeks and months tend to self-correct with ease and have balanced and flexible nervous systems. For the babes we don't see, or if parents are wondering what to look for to decide if they should have their baby examined, here are some things to look for that may indicate a more serious need for chiropractic care.  Torticollis or difficulty turning head in either direction Placiocephaly (head flatte...

While I Was Away- Training in NSA

I have had the opportunity to travel for work two times in the past three weeks. Why would I want to spend this precious time away from both my family and practice? Fortunately, the trips were for two amazing seminars, which I have been asked about by many practice members. Here is the why and what I have learned. In January I travelled to Denver for 4 days for Dr. Donald Epstein's Intermediate and Advanced Care Intensive seminar. This is the advanced technique seminar for Network Spinal Analysis and is offered yearly, although I have not managed to attend since I last attended in Como, Italy. We have a lot of information to cover as Dr Epstein is constantly refining the work, and we get both lecture and hands-on practice time. As part of his new Reorganizational Healing model, we are learning new ways to work at different depths in the body to refine both the Respiratory and Somatopsychic (healing) waves. It's pretty amazing to see how the work is constantly changing...
