Curiosity

Elan's Theme for January is Fresh~Here's Dr Lynn Hoffman-Tempel's Perspective on this and Meditation. Dr Lynn will be offering a Taming the Monkey Mind, a Mindfulness meditation night on Thursday, January 19th at 7:30 pm.

Welcome to a New Year and to a new season.  We understand this time as a time of new beginnings, it is also the time of year that is associated with the water element in Traditional Chinese Medicine.  The energies that support and surround us at this time of year encourage us to look deeply inwards, to be very curious about out own lives and experiences.  We are motivated to create change and momentum towards things that we would like to experience or be different.  I often hear from people – “I know what I need to do, why can’t I do it?”  Creating something new or different requires small or big changes made consistently over time.  How do we make this a reality in out lives – Be Curious!!!

Be Curious about yourself.

The most effective way that I have found to create a space to be curious about ourselves and begin to access our own wisdom and knowledge is through a mindfulness or mediation practice.  Using a process of breathing to bring the mind into a specific brainwave to create relaxation and an integration of thoughts and emotions.  Through guided visualizations information from the various levels of the mind becomes available.

Many people tell me that they can’t meditate – they can’t clear their mind.  In mindfulness this is not our goal – our goal is to work with the thoughts in the mind and allow them to come together in a new and different way in order to access the wisdom and the answers that we have within us.

I will be hosting an evening of Mindfulness each month, please join me in the journey of discovering the answers that you have within you.
