Birthing in Bowness-The Event

Beautiful pregnant bellies and a mix of birth support professionals-so perfect for a Friday night! We were excited to host a Birthing in Bowness night at our office to support our community of birthing moms in our little town in the city.

Look how lovely the evening turned out! It was largely in part due to support from local businesses and individuals. We had both gift bag and door prize donations, with contributions from local businesses Rumina Naturals, Routine natural deodorant, Peaceful Slumber Paediatric Sleep Solutions (Ali), Ryder and Reece, Ellie Ears, Tuscany Hot Mama Fitness, and Young Living Essential Oils (Sandra Catania), local doulas Emilie Sanmartin, Kate Hunter and Amanda Ernewein, and Elan's own practitioners Lisa Chepil (Registered Massage Therapist), Sandra Catania (Holistic Reflexologist), Margaret Kennedy (Registered Acupuncturist) and myself for Prenatal and Paediatric Chiropractic care. Yummy and Nutritious Food for those growing babies!

We started the evening with some one on one chats. We had an Icebreaker Cheat Sheet in case we were completely stumped about what to talk about-would you choose a baby shower or a blessing way? Would you sooner spend money on birth photography or the nursery?

Sandra led us in a chat about Reflexology for Pregnancy, Labor and Post Partum, followed by a demonstration.

Amanda, a local Doula and Midwifery student shared information about how Midwifery care differs from medical care.

The last short presentation was with myself, Dr Josephene Juell, on Prenatal Chiropractic, including some home tips to make pregnancy feel better and to help how the pelvis is functioning. We touched on infant chiropractic care-which we find is so amazing for our little practice members for so many things!

Our evening wrapped up with draws for our fun door prizes, and more chatting and snacks. It was a great evening for all us, pregnant and not! and we hope the information provided helps to ease some of the concerns that pop up as our bellies pop out.
